2016 KidFish Ice Fishing Derby
What an unbelievable time at this year’s KidFish Ice Derby. I can’t believe it’s over. All we can say is, “WOW!” There was an amazing turnout of families. The amount of fish caught was impressive. We had numerous prizes donated by our event sponsors and kind-hearted individuals. We could not have planned it out any better. Even Mother Nature blessed us with mild weather. Everything was perfect, especially the attendance.
We had a total of 1,127 participants at this year’s ice derby. The best part is, 371 of them were kids. Talk about knocking the ball out of the park. On behalf of the organizing committee for the 2015 KidFish Ice Derby, we are pleased to announce that through the sale of tickets and a combination of donations on the day of the derby, we raised $34,405.25 for the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation and The Children’s Hospital of Manitoba Foundation.
What an unbelievable ride, you are all amazing.
Thank you very much for all the support, and for making it, “All about the kids! ”

Due to mild winter, the organizing committee decided to move the date of the 2015 KidFish Ice Derby from Sunday December 27th to Sunday January 24th, 2016. The mild winter elevated a cause for concern for the safety of all those wanting to participate. The first date was problematic due to lack of ice thickness. The bottom line was the ice derby went on once we had sufficient ice to guarantee the safety and peace of mind for all entrants.
That being said, EARLY BIRD TICKET PRIZES were still drawn for the December 19th cut-off, worth approximately $500 a piece. We know waiting the extra time to guarantee safety made this derby even better. Thank you for your support and keeping it “All about the kids!”
