Since our first derby, in 2014, KidFish has brought anglers and families together on the ice to support children’s charities across Manitoba — raising over $485,000 for the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba and CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, and creating unforgettable memories along the way.

KidFish began from a shared passion for Manitoba’s outdoors and a desire to make a difference in children’s lives.
Through our annual ice fishing derby, we raise funds for the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba and CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, helping kids and families across the province.
Our event is entirely volunteer-run, powered by the dedication of individuals, local partners, and sponsors who share our mission of giving back.

Have questions about how the KidFish Ice Fishing Derby works?
You’re in the right place. Here’s everything you need to know about tickets, prizes, age groups, rules, and what to bring — so you can focus on the fun and helping kids in need.
The derby is run by a volunteer group to raise funds in support of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba and Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation.
The derby is open to ALL ages!
Ages 15 and under.
No. A ticket must be purchased to enter the derby site.
However, with a youth ticket, the first 600 kids through the derby entrance will receive a free ice fishing rod/reel combo!
YES! We have main prizes for top fish, as well as youth prizes.
Any age can win a top prize, but youth prizes are reserved for participants 15 and under.
Yes — everyone entering the gates must have a ticket.
No, because the event takes place during Manitoba’s Free Family Fishing Weekend!
Holes are not pre-drilled, but we have drill teams on-site to help you out.
Each competitor may have two holes maximum (one per ticket).
The cost is the same for both holes to keep it family-friendly.
YES! You can set up your tent, but no lines in the water until the derby start time.
Permits are granted to derby organizers for a defined boundary during the event.
Access is limited to ticket holders — but you’re welcome to purchase a ticket and support a great cause!
