2015 KidFish Ice Derby – Full Results & Community Highlights
The 2015 KidFish Ice Fishing Derby will be remembered as one of our most exciting and heartwarming events yet. From the moment the first participants arrived, the energy on the ice was electric. Families gathered together, fishing lines were cast, and the atmosphere was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and community spirit. Here are the 2015 KidFish Ice Derby results you’ve been waiting for.
We could not have asked for better conditions—Mother Nature blessed us with mild winter weather, making it comfortable for anglers of all ages to enjoy their time on the frozen Red River in Selkirk, Manitoba. The turnout was nothing short of remarkable, with 1,127 participants joining us for the derby. The true highlight was seeing 371 children taking part, many of them fishing for the very first time. Watching their excitement as they reeled in their catches and proudly measured their fish was priceless.
This event wasn’t just about fishing—it was about giving back. Through ticket sales, combined with generous donations received on derby day, the 2015 KidFish Ice Derby raised an incredible $34,405.25. These funds were split equally between two causes close to our hearts: the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation and the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. The money raised helps provide essential resources, equipment, and support programs for children and families in need across Manitoba.
The success of the 2015 derby is a testament to the strength of our community. From our hardworking volunteers, who ensured the event ran smoothly, to our sponsors and kind-hearted donors, everyone played a part in making this day special. The countless prizes donated by local businesses added even more excitement to the event, keeping spirits high from start to finish.
On behalf of the organizing committee, we want to thank each and every person who participated, donated, or volunteered. The 2015 KidFish Ice Derby results are more than numbers—they represent the generosity, dedication, and unity of a community coming together for a cause. You proved once again that it’s truly “All About the Kids.” We look forward to seeing you all on the ice next year!
